This morning, visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, located just outside the city. Wander through bamboo groves and observe giant pandas as they relax, eat, or play. The on-site panda museum offers deeper insight into the conservation and life cycle of this beloved national treasure.
In the afternoon, explore Chengdu’s urban highlights. Stroll through People’s Park, a favorite gathering place for locals seeking calm amid the city’s bustle. Experience Chengdu’s teahouse culture by enjoying a cup of tea in a traditional setting.
In the evening, attend a Sichuan opera performance at the renowned Shufeng Yayun Opera House. Enjoy the captivating face-changing acts, puppetry, and shadow plays - an art form that transcends language and delights audiences of all backgrounds.
Drive approximately two hours to Leshan in the morning. After a short rest and lunch, begin your visit to the Leshan Giant Buddha.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, this colossal statue stands 71 meters tall and is carved directly into a cliff overlooking the confluence of three rivers. Walk the pathways beside the Buddha for an up-close perspective, then enjoy a river cruise to appreciate the immense scale of the statue and its cliffside inscription from below.
Later, enjoy some free time exploring local streets for food tasting. Sample regional specialties such as spicy pot chicken, shaomai dumplings, crispy Leshan beef burgers, sweet-skinned roast duck, and silky tofu pudding.
After the visit, transfer to a hotel near Mount Emei, located about 31 kilometers from Leshan.
Accommodation Note - Mount Emei:
Hotel options near Mount Emei are limited, and the mountain’s humid climate means facilities are generally simple. TravelTidesChina carefully selects the best available accommodations based on location, comfort, service quality, and guest feedback. Your guide will accompany you to view your room and assist with any adjustments if alternative rooms are available.
Spend the day exploring Mount Emei, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of China’s Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains. Travel by public sightseeing bus and cable car to reach the summit area, where sweeping mountain views and an impressive golden Buddha statue await. Take time to absorb the serene atmosphere before returning to Chengdu.
This morning, your private guide and driver will escort you to the train station for a high-speed train journey to Jiuzhaigou. Upon arrival, transfer for lunch before continuing to the Huanglong Scenic Area.
Known as China’s best-preserved plateau wetland, Huanglong is celebrated for its colorful limestone pools, snow-capped peaks, dense forests, and tranquil valleys. A chairlift ride is included to conserve energy, followed by a leisurely downhill walk through the scenic area to fully enjoy the landscapes.
After the visit, transfer to your hotel near Jiuzhaigou.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, a natural wonder named after its nine Tibetan villages. The park stretches across winding valleys, covering vast areas of pristine wilderness.
Accompanied by your guide, you’ll travel by public eco-bus to explore the three main valleys: Shuzheng, Rize, and Zechawa. Marvel at crystal-clear alpine lakes, cascading waterfalls, colorful forests, snow-capped mountains, Tibetan cultural elements, and, in colder seasons, striking blue ice formations.
Dining options are available within the park, and your guide will recommend suitable restaurants. A picnic lunch can also be arranged upon request.
Visiting Tip: Arriving early allows you to enjoy quieter moments and avoid peak tour-group traffic.
Return to Chengdu by high-speed train in the morning. Upon arrival, your TravelTidesChina guide and driver will escort you to the airport for your onward flight home or to your next destination, ensuring a smooth and worry-free conclusion to your journey.
